Call for local musicians to participate during the 2012 Brampton Global Jazz & Blues Festival

Are you a MUSICIAN? You have a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the Art in Jazz - Global Jazz & Blues Festival. Art of Jazz will transform downtown Brampton into a hotbed of rhythm, improvisation, harmony and sophistication. With 4 days of major concerts, themed program, workshops, jam sessions, film debuts and more, this unique community celebration will be a meeting point for international jazz greats and music lovers alike. The Festival will be presented August 9th to 12th inclusive.

We would love to see our local musicians get involved.


SUBMISSIONS INFORMATION


Due to the high volume of applications to the festival, we recommend that submissions be thorough and complete. Please do not send originals as submission packages will not be returned under any circumstances.


Only the successful applicants will be contacted.


Electronic and mailed submissions will be accepted.


Please include the following details/documents with your submission to ensure you receive the attention you deserve:
1. A brief description of your music, including style, influences, etc.2. A list of all group members' names and instruments.
3. Contact details including: Contact Name/ Phone(including area/country code) /Email Address /Mailing Address
4. Bio information
5. Website address

City of Brampton Public Art Program

The Brampton Arts Council and the City of Brampton are pleased to invite Canadian and international artists and artist-led teams to submit proposals for the Nelson Square Parking Garage mural competition.


Installation: Late Fall 2012

Budget: $80,000.00 CAD (all-inclusive)

Deadline for Submission: Thursday, May 31, 2012

Annual General Meeting


Greetings and Salutations Our Honorary Members and Guests,

Ms Licia Vreugde, President of the Brampton Arts Council (BAC) called to order the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the evening of Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 at Brampton City Hall’s Council Chambers.

Prior to the beginning of the meeting, registrations, information packages and directions were handed to members and guests as they arrived and settled in.

The meeting commenced at 7:35 p.m. when the President welcomed and thanked members and guests for attending. Following the introduction Councillor Sandra Hames gave greetings on behalf of the City of Brampton and stated,

“… It’s great to see you all out here tonight. The Arts Council is truly a valuable asset to the City. The board and staff of the Arts Council do a tremendous job promoting and representing our talented arts community…”

The Secretary of the BAC, Jessica Heath, presented the minutes of the Annual General Meeting of March 29rd, 2011 followed by the President’s report highlighting the activities and accomplishments of BAC in 2011.
BAC’s Treasurer Rob Filkin, thoroughly presented the Audited Financial Statement. Two new directors amongst seven were introduced by the Nominating Chair.

Before the adjournment of the meeting, members and guests were informed of upcoming BAC events and opportunities for advertising and publicity.

The Board remained for a brief meeting following the AGM for an Organizational Meeting, while the rest were ushered into the reception lounge for refreshments catered by Tk’s Catering and wonderful entertainment by the Jazz Mechanics.

The BAC would like to give special thanks to Peter Gibson, volunteer and all attendees!
