I attempted the panorama goodness again, using Paint to stitch them all together. This is actually about 7 pictures.
Amazing. Interesting. Expression. All words the young artists themselves used to describe the experience of Eklektika, an independent arts festival put together by Treeline Public students. The nouns and adjectives don't even come close to expressing the momentous force of organization and beauty situated at Beaux-Arts Brampton from the 9th to the 13th.
I didn't have any expectations when arriving just before 8 p.m. for the gala that Thursday (the 11th). As I walked up to the doors of BAB, I quickly realized that maybe a few expectations were key. First because a slew of others DID have expectations and the place was packed full of students, parents, siblings and loved ones watching the performances and checking out the art works and secondly, because the energy and support were contagious. If you weren't careful with that atmosphere, a person could go crazy with the giddiness.
Once managing to scoot my way forward past the doors where performers were on stage I was able to see so many different things, so much other hard work and creativity everywhere. I don't know where to begin to express it but maybe I don’t have to do it all. That’s what pictures are for. There was the ipod wall, where students had each expressed their I-ness and did it in the style of the ever so popular commercials, utilizing silhouettes. There were eerie landscapes and portraits. Almost set up like a fancy cake, there were pretty lil' pinch pots. Sugar skulls gave props to El Dias de los Muerto (The Day of the Dead) while African masks contrasted and the students composed an Anti-Vandalization Graffiti wall. Surprisingly, my favourite work was the plastic bag princess dresses. I was surprised not because of the skill made to craft it but because I generally don't tend to feel synchronized to fashion; yet, reworking and beautifying the mundane of plastic bags is always awesome. It gets me thinking...
I have pictures and video, performance and interviews with some of the students and one Ms. Goyeau. I've posted the pictures here; but the video's going to have to wait. I want to give special props to Leah-Ann Goyeau who was the prime teacher who helped the students put this event together and is one of our members here at the Council. Bravo, Leah-Ann! :)
I'm interested to hear what those who attended, or anyone for that matter, thought of the event or specific works. If you wrote a blog entry about your experience, post the link. :) Sharing can be good. :)

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThanks for blogging about Eklektika, Treeline Public School's First Independent Arts Festival. You did a fantastic job in covering the event.
The gala reception was a tremendous success! Throughout the evening, we saw 350 people come through our doors. Who would have thunk?
Props go out to everyone that made the event such a success.
Let the blogging begin!

ReplyDeleteEklektika was a blast. It had cool art work. I was really proud to know that there are great artisit at our school. I really do hope that mrs goyeau host another gala. thanks mrs goyeau for all your hard work for the time you took to make somthing happen to our arts. Now I feel like i am an artist.
THANK YOU again mrs goyeay none of this would have happened without you. with all the amazing art work it is just so fasinating
CHOW!!
Eklektika was a great success and i hope we have another art show. I really liked the art work that was displayed. I am really proud of my art work that was displayed. I really like how a lot of people were there and were enjoying them selves. I think the best part of Eklektika were the presintaions and all the art work. Something wierd that happened that night was the plastic bag lady. She was at the art show just walking around. Another wierd hting that happened was right after the employee three men walked in... Who were they? What or who did they want? Were they out to get somebody? Nobody knows....
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteKudos to Pavanjot and Janany for posting their comments. Janany, you're very welcome. I'm proud of the fine job everyone did. Yes, there's a lot of artistic talent at Treeline. I really hope my talented friends in Grade 7 are thinking about/considering applying to Mayfield next year. Three of our Grade 8 students were recently accepted into Mayfield's Regional Arts Program. Congratulations go out to Shanae Robinson and Harleen Bajwa for their acceptance into the Visual Arts Program and Ranece Gordon who was accepted into the Dance Program.
Pavanjot - I'm very pleased with your post considering you were not able to make it out to the gala.
As for the rest of you - start blogging!
The Eklektika was a huge success! I really enjoy the art gala reception. I also appreciate the hard work Ms. Goyeau put in to having the art gala organized and well put together. It was probably hard to work on a whole gala reception. When she as one teacher wanted to make a difference and show us that she appreciates the work that as grade 8’s and 7’s put together. She also wants us to have a good art education. She wanted us to have a fun time and wanted us to put the best effort of our ability. I can connect or tell how Ms. Goyeau worked hard to put a gala reception together and how she probably felt about it. It is also frustrating when someone doesn’t hand in work or they back out of there responsibilities. I worked hard to put a birthday party/ baby shower for my home room teacher in grade 5. It took 8 months to of planning to put it all together. I have never in my entire life of school so far have ever had a teacher who spends all of her free time to put the effort and get the media, mayor, parent council, art club, and other people involved in the gala reception. This is probably a one in life time chance that you will more likely never come cross. I would like to throw a big thank you to Ms. Goyeau our art teacher, to the art club and the performers and the students who all played a part in this art gala. I also would like to thank all the people that showed up. It is really exciting when 350 people show up to admire our art work. It really paid off for all the hard work that the grade 8’s and 7’s put into it. Ms. Goyeau the one that put a lot of effort in to putting the gala reception together. THANK YOU Ms. Goyeau for the fantastic work you put in. I hope that all the students will remember this for the rest of their life. I also wish that there will another art gallery that the students and I can put our art work in. It just feels like we are artists putting our work up. Thanks again to those who played a role in this gallery reception.

ReplyDeleteEklektika was a huge success. I had a blast at the art gallery that thursday night. It made me feel so proud of myself and it gave me a chance to show my friends and everyone else their what I conducted in art class. All of this could not have been done without Ms.Goyeau so woo hoo!!! GO MS.GOYEAU!!!

ReplyDeleteEklektika was a tremendous success. It is something that i will NEVER forget. I was really proud of myself because our art work got put into a real art gallery. I would like to thank Ms.Goyeau for all the time, effort and money she spent on us. No other art teacher has took this much time to do something that would make us feel like we are artists. That night that ms.Goyeau took months to prepare for gave us a chance to show everything that we have done to our friends and family. Thank you once again ms.Goyeau we appreciate everything that you have done for us. :)
The Elektika was so much fun. We got have a fun time with our friends and family. I' m very thankful that we have a teacher like Ms. Goyeau that could actually give us this opportunity and at this very young age. If we had a different teacher i don't think that the teacher would go throw so much trouble to just give us this opportunity to shine . That is a big shocker 350 people. Who would have thought. I' m glad that we can have a teacher like Ms. Goyeau that could let us show our art in a real gallery and all attention us. THANK YOU MS. GOYEAU FOR EVERYTHING AND YOUR ARE THE BEST ART TEACHER.
ReplyDeleteHoly Kahlo, Batman! Thanks for the abundance of comments, folks, especially imaginative ones. No one can turn away from creative, suspenseful twists, Pavanjot. Can't wait to hear what happened after those men arrived. Ms. Goyeau did do an awesome job and it makes it that much sweeter when you guys give her props. Jannay, if you're an artist, you are. I hope you don't ever lose that feeling.
ReplyDeleteTharshana, Lovepreet, & Shenisha well spoken and eloquent appreciation leaves me to say: 'nuff said. :) You guys said it perfectly. Gagan, a big shocker seems like the perfect way to describe that mass of people.
Wow, was this event ever mind blowing. As me and a couple of my friends walked into the gala at about 6:30pm there was hardly anyone one around, but in a blink of an eye there was people everywhere! From a "Bag Lady" to the Peel Councillor (John Sprovieri) This was amazing; we were not expecting this AT ALL! Did we ever know that we could get recognized with our art with friends, family, media and the list goes on. Throughout the whole night I could not get one thought out of my head, the fact that Miss.Goyeua spent her valuable time and effort for our Treeline artiest to be known outside of our 4 school walls. I would just like to take this time to thank her for what she done for us Treeline students from the day she walked in as an intermediate art teacher. Knowing this is our last year here at Treeline this is one of the memories that you cannot forget, it was a tremendous success! Cheering!! I can say that again... by the end of the night I could barely talk, this was because all the performances were remarkable. There was not one performance I didn’t cheer for, not because the rest of the crowd was hype ... but because I wanted to build up the self-esteem in the performers. As I walked out of the gala I felt really proud for who I was as I was standing in the gala, a young artist. Also, I remembered nothing is impossible; and Miss. Goyeau proved that to all of Treeline Public School. Once again, Thank you Miss. Goyeau for everything, and everyone that came out to make this night a success!

Also when i saw the I-pod ads I was amazed because of all the colors and the hard work all the students put into there art work. This is sumthin to not forget. And once again a big thanks to ms.goyeau :):P:D
ReplyDeleteSukhi,
ReplyDeleteExcellent blog post! Yes, this is your last year at Treeline, and indeed, a memorable year! You should graduate from Treeline feeling proud of who you are and what you've accomplished. This is definitely an exciting year at Treeline. With the Much Music Dance Party coming up on March 11th, the Fun Fair on May 15th, the Montreal Trip, Wonderland and Graduation, you guys and gals have tonnes to look forward too! A supportive principal, an eager parent council, dedicated staff and enthusiastic students are what contribute to our school's success. Keep up the contagious spirit and remember that Treeline students are second to none. Believe and ye shall succeed (I believe this might have been the 11th commandment).
Manpreet,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your blog. I totally agree! One of the most shocking aspects of the exhibit was the colour and intensity that radiated from the iPod wall. The whole was definitely greater than the sum of its parts. It was absolutely breathtaking to see 90 iPod canvasses cover the entire wall. It also made an excellent backdrop as a performance space.
Eklektika was a success all thanks to out art teacher Miss Goyeau for organizing the whole art show with lots of effort and mostly for giving us a opportunity to make pinch pots, create ipod ads etc. I was really happy to see two art pieces i did displayed in the art show.I really enjoyed the performances and the multi-cultural food was great.Once again Thank-you Miss Goyeau for a beautiful night.
ReplyDeleteWow! like everyone has said this was a huge success! When i walked through the doors I immediately knew it was going to be fun when I saw all of my friends, teachers, and not to mention our art work! I thought i would only be seeing some familiar faces, but it seemed everyone i knew from Treeline was there! Every minute of that day was soooooo entertaining, even getting there and getting lost numerous times was funny. From the minute i got home it was just fun to know that later on I would be going somewhere that my friends, teachers and my family would be. but watching the entertainment for the day was just amazing! It really shows the talent that the students who preformed had. I can`t thank Ms.Goyeau enough for planning the whole day and putting so much of her thought and hard work into it. Most teachers make us to tests and colour for art but like she said that isn`t art and we should be able to express ouselves and really show the message we want to give. This is our last year at Treeline and having so many upcoming exciting events that are going to be taking place this was another one, that I was really looking forward to having, and I wasn`t disappointed! Thank you Ms.Goyeau yet again, for being understanding, fun, creative and thoughtful, this is something i will never ever forget!
ReplyDeletePriya and Teena,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your positive feedback and appreciation. Being an artist has more to do with inspiration and creativity than it does with technique. If you're inspired to capture something, you'll find a way to express it and the technique will follow. My job is to inspire and motivate you and to help you find solutions to your design challenges.
Amazing, how Eklektika was a huge success. The minute I walked in the gala, I was shocked to see so many people had came. This was our moment to get recongized by family, friends, teachers and the media. Throughout the night i saw that everyone at the gala were really enjoying themselves, this was our moment to shine! A huge Thanks goes out to Ms.Goyau, for taking her valuable time and effort to create such a tremendous event that no one could forget! As i was looking at the displayed art work, i was glad to call ourselves proud artists. Once again, we all really appreciate what Ms. Goyeau had done gor us :) As we will be Graduating this year, she made an incredible memory for us never to forget, as we will be leaving Treeline. At the end of the Gala, i was SPEECHLESS, of all the performances, temptations, art work. It was AMAZING. Thank-you Ms.Goyeau for everything you've done to make it a perfect memorable night!!
ReplyDeleteAnmolpreet,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, it feels good to be recognized by your peers, family friends, teachers, the media and the general public. I'll be picking up 250 copies of the article in SNAP Brampton's March Edition which comes out next week. Every student will have a copy of the article to have as a keepsake. I'm also compiling a powerpoint presentation of the event that includes photographs from multiple sources. Huge props go out to the Art club and yearbook photogrpahy committee that did a fine job of capturing the event.

ReplyDeleteEklektika, words can still not describe the great success of that gala. I think it was the biggest thing that beaux arts has ever seen and I am not just talking about the turn out.
I have one word that I think can explain it is genius. Genius in no matter how everything was different it still came together as one. All art was unique in its own way. That shows how antithetic students at Treeline public school are.
I would have to say that my favourite part of the art gala was the i-pod wall. Every pose was so vivid and not just with the poses but also the colour. Even if this was a pose that we have seen before there was still something in that had that special kick in it. I also enjoyed the graffiti wall. I loved how everyone expressed their name so differently with us of colour and style.
But I have to say the biggest genius of this all would have to be Ms Goyeau. If it was not for her she would not have made this so spontaneous. It was like this was all a big jig-saw puzzle and she knew exactly what to put and where to put it. Now thinking of it I wonder what Treeline would be without her.
From the reporter of the night
Also for any students in grade 8 or any teachers that wish to hear more about this article wait for the follow up in the yearbook of 2010
also i had forgotten my second favourite part of tit was of course the temptations

btw was thre an 11th commandment i thought there was only 9 or 10 lol
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, ha Sahde. Good to finally here from you! Huge props go out to you and Cynthia for your live morning broadcasts. The cheering I heard each morning from the intermediate hallways brought a definite smile to my face and helped build-up the excitement and the anticipation. As the official, "Treeline Gala Reporter", I look forward to your yearbook write-up. Thanks for spreading the good news. I especially liked the radio station broadcast.
ReplyDeleteThere are only 10 commandments.
ReplyDelete"BELIEVE and YE SHALL SUCCEED" is unique to Treeline, our motto. He, he, he.
Kelly,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is becoming a huge hit! It's kind of contagious. I hope to see more students blogging and sharing their reflections.
Shanae, Bryanna and Simren,
Please post a comment here and link to your blog.
Well Well. When I see the past comments all I see is the word success!
ReplyDeleteWhen I walked into the art gallery at about 7:05, I was immediately surrounding by friends and people I had never seen before. Trying to keep up with my mom and Nakayla who I'd driven with was difficult due to all the people. The gala was supposed to start at 7 pm and me being late walked in 5 minutes after seeing at least like 150+ people there. So indeed, Eklektika was a success but it was more than that too. It was a success because many people came and got to see our art work. Yes, but what about the fact that I never in a million years pictured myself even going to an art gala much less being apart of one. I see them in movies and stuff but never pictured myself being 13 and having my work displayed like it was at Eklektika. I appreciate Ms. Goyeau for that. My peers and I would never have gotten that experience anywhere else.
My favourite part was being able to perform at the gala. I was definitely nervous and embarassed but when I got to actually 'african dance' it was more fun than anything. People might not have taken it serious but for me and Bria it was an oppurtunity to be someone else and play a character which is also fun.
Many stories are still being said about the gala which means it was, like I said, more than a success but an appreciation of our own hardwork, detail and personality.
Like said before, this will be an everlasting memory to carry us through our dark days of highschool when you say, "I want to go back to grade 8". This will be one of the reasons why.
Instead of seeing our art work up in the hallways at school or in our classroom, we actually all got hyped up to go and see work we'd already seen before! I think the art looked even better. I loved being able to keep my personality in my art and Ms. Goyeau as allowed us to do that. And having the gala let everyone else see it and allow it too.
Although some performances were messed up by glitches in the music, they were all still well done and I don't say this because I was in one but because I saw them. We had all worked hard to let people enjoy our performances. When I walked off stage with Bria and we went into the back (where the food was), I can't tell you how many people came up to us and said that our dance was really cool, or funny, or nice, etc. I stopped feeling embarass and starting thinking, "Dang! I must have done good!" I felt good about the art I had made, the performance I did and the FOOD I ate!! The somosas were a thumbs up! Everything that I tried was really good. I had like 4 somosas in 2 days because of the gala!!
My blog has gone back and forth but from beginning to end, the gala was non-stop fun and joy. Parents got to talk to parents, students got to interact and talk about their artwork, friends got to laugh with friends. It was overall extremely fun....and crowded. Me saying this is a bit redundant but if we ever do have another gala in grade 8?, we should definitely have it in a bigger space because you know from Eklektika that that show would be even more of a success and even more fun.
Although Ms. Goyeau has heard this plenty of times, I still wanted to thank her for her hardwork, and belief in us. She believed that our art work was good enough to be seen outside of our school. I respect and appreciate all your work and effort into making that night and great one!
(We also got no homework that night so it was even more fun!)
Thanks again.
Ranece,
ReplyDeleteBeing a dancer, I'm shocked to hear you say that you felt nervous, scared or embarssed! Dang, you did "do good"!
You hit the nail right on the head. The gala atmosphere was definitely a social one. It was a beautiful sight to see everyone having such a good time. Art is what you make of it. Bringing artists together with musicians, dancers and actors oozes the very essence of what art should be. A living, breathing exhibit.
Thanks for your feedback, Ranece. As for a bigger venue, perhaps Kelly Lewars can provide some insight.

You guys are awesome. Not only are you humbly thankful to your supporters and teacher but still filled with excitement from that event. So I thankyouthankyouthankyou folks for not only posting but sharing. Sharing *is* good. :)
ReplyDeleteIn regards to a bigger space, there are a couple alternatives to BAB Ms. Goyeau and I have discussed, I’ll let her go over them with you guys but I’d like to hear your ideas too.

ReplyDeleteArjun and Chris,
ReplyDeleteIn your blog you stated the event did not meet some of the students' expectations. Could you be more specific about what specifically was below their expectations.
Wow, what a phenominal event! About 350 people attended Treeline's First Independent Arts Festival. What a shocker and who would have known that there would have been such a large turnout. Anyhow, as one of the students who partcipated and created a few of the art pieces in the art exhibit, it was delightful to know that so many others appreciated our art pieces, how hard we worked on each of them, and the time and effort our grade 8 art teacher, Miss Goyeau, put into the entire event. Each of the assorted art projects were displayed in appealing and alluring arrangements which looked amazing. Whether you were able to attend the event or not, the pictures that were taken looked outstanding because the numerous colours that were used on the projects, such as the ipod ads, were bright and eye catching. Not only were the art projects appealing, but the performances also were. Unfortunately, I could not attend the gala reception that night but from what I heard the next day at school, the temptations were a hit along with the other performances. I heard that they were amazing and that they were also quite humorous in many ways. A big thank-you goes out to Miss Goyeau for all her time and effort that she put into this entire event. Also, congrats to all the other students at Treeline who submitted an art piece to the exhibit. They were all well done and I think that all the other people in the neighbourhood who attended the gala that night would also agree. I think that Eklektika was a huge success and I am very thankful that Miss Goyeau would give us this oppurtunity to be recognized as artists. This sure was a memorable event. We couldn't have done it without you!!!
ReplyDeleteMiss G! the art show turned out to be awesome!! i had soo much fun watching all the preformances and the food tasted unbelievable ; my most memoriable part about the art show was when me and harman got up on the stage and the crowd went WILDD! .. something i would never forget.
ReplyDeletei had a wonderfull time and hope that we could do the same next year when im also in grade 7 so my art could be placed in an exhibit. Thank you for letting me come and make an unforgettable moment by preforming. bii!
-helped me make this spectacular comment: Kajal.
First of all I would just like to thank you miss.goyeau for all of your hard work and dedecation towards this art galla, which was obviously a HUGE success. Im glad to have you as our art teacher this year becuase im sure no other art teacher would have done this for us. And I'm also glad to say that this is my last year at this school and this is one event i will never forget, all thanks to you miss. goyeau.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing I would like to point out is how i felt when I was at the art gala. I was shocked to see so many people , and the crowd going wild for the performers. I was also glad to see so many people come out and have a good time and come and show/represent Treeline p.s. I was also able to help out at this event by becoming the paparzati and capturing every memorable event. It was also soo great to see everyone having such a good time and laughing and enjoying their time with their friends and family, and showing off their art work to their parents. I just lovedd that sight. Also when i leave this school i have something to smile about and look back on, all thanks to miss. goyeau ... thanks for everything ! :)
Thank you Miss.Goyeau for taking your time and money to make this gala the best it could be. I am so happy you are art teacher because the art teacher at the beginning of last year always made us paint. With you we have got to use different types of materials and different types off projects. So a big thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe art gala was so amazing. It was great to be there. I was so shocked to see the number off people that showed up that was really surprising. Well every thing was displayed and very appealing. The iPod wall was really big and colourful it looked so beautiful. Wow the art I saw on the graffiti wall was so extravagant. The wall by it’s self was really well put together. The food was delicious and the entertainment was great. This was a really great way to show what Treeline is made off.
Ameena, Annie and Sandeep,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comments. It looks like our 3rd Tribes agreement is really paying off. I'm so impressed with all the appreciations the students have put forward. It brings a huge smile to my face to see the mutual respect and recognition each and every one of you have given and deserve. I really felt that Eklektika brought about a true sense of community and accomplishment. There's so much to look forward to with only 4 months left of school. I hope the momentum and school spirit will continue throughout the remainder of the year.
Arsh,
ReplyDeleteIt was great having you as our junior guest performer. You did a fantastic job! Your smile totally lit up the room!
The difference between a good dancer and a great dancer is the personality given on stage. You were oozing personality! Keep dancing and keep on smiling.
Thanks for contributing to the success of the event. I look forward to working with you in the near future. There's a strong possibility that there'll be a couple of opportunities to get your BHANGRA on at upcoming school events! Stay tuned for more details!
Hi Ms.Goyeau and all other readers...
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, many thanks to Ms.Goyeau for giving the intermediate students a chance to participate in an ACTUAL ART GALLERY!The performances were lively and really showed the diversity at Treeline P.S. I had a blast and am so proud that that my art work was in Beaux-Arts Brampton! The media attention really made me feel like i was in the 'real world'. So once again thanks to the best art teacher ever-MS. GOYEAU!!!!!!!!:)
7A,
ReplyDeleteI was speaking with Mr. Smith this afternoon. He advised me that you experienced some technical difficulty accessing the Eklektika powerpoint from the My Class Site. I apologize for the inconvenience this caused. From my end, everything appears to be up and running just fine. Please visit the class site from home and see if it's in the resources section of the class site. I look forward to reading your blogs. Hope you had fun playing pictionary.
Miss Goyeau
Wow!!!! Eklektika was a success. I am happy that my art was displayed in a art gallery. Miss.Goyeau you are the best art teacher we ever had!!!!!!!! I am only 12 years old and I had my art displayed where everyone could see it. I can't wait until we have another art gala. I really enjoyed the performances, the food and the art. I am so proud because my art was displayed. THANK-YOU MISS.GOYEAU. I hope we have another art gala. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Miss Goyeau,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed going to the art exhibit at Beaux-arts Brampton. It was really fun!!!!! I appreciate the time and money you spent to organize the Gala Reception. I really loved watching the presentations and the performances at the art show. I hope that I will get to attend another art exhibit and get a chance to see myself again as an artist.
THE ART SHOW WAS A SUCCESS!!!
Eklektika
ReplyDeleteEklektika was a big success! I never thought that Eklektika would have been this big of an success. I had no expectations, but from what I heard lots of people had high expectations of this gala. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. There was such a variety of art work, there was the ipod wall which was my person favorite. There was graffiti, pinch pots etc. As soon as you would enter you could feel the shift of mood. You suddenly felt like dancing and enjoying the night. It was crazy there in a good way. If you got out of control we don't know what would have happen. With the variety of art work there was also a variety of food Indian, Chinese etc. It was just a wonderful night. Hope something like this happens again.
Hi Ms. Goyeau,
ReplyDeleteI was not able to attend the art show but i heard it was a BLAST!!! Many people told me that there were so many people that there was barely any place to move. I really wanted to come to look at our art work and watch the presentations but i was not able to make it. I appreciate the money to get all this organized and it was a SUCCESS! I hope there will be another Gala Reception so I will be able to come and have as much fun as everyone else did. THANK YOU!! :D
Japneet,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you weren't able to make it to Eklektika. It was a blast! Thanks for your post. I do hope that there will be future opportunities to exhibit and show Brampton what Treeline is made of.
Harmen,
Thanks for commenting on the mood or "spirit" of the event. I tried to keep things lively. If there had been more space, I'm sure everyone would have been dancing! You did a fantastic job in organizing the boys who danced. Thank you for your leadership role and for making the event such a great success.
Samreet and Amandeep,
I really like your reflective practice on the pride and ownership you felt in being real artists. Keep this in mind as we venture forward. You never know when your work might be exhibited next!
On the evening of February the 11th, MS. GOYEAU held a gala reception at Beaux-Arts Brampton. There were endless pieces of artwork everywhere and I felt like a star to have my artwork set on display for everyone to see!!! There were pinch pots, iPod ads, graffiti walls, quilt patterns, and the list goes on. I definately think that Eklektika was a tremendous success!!!
ReplyDeleteAbout 350 people were present at the 'Diversity and Artistic Talent' celebration....and I am proud to be one of them. Everything imaginable was present...there was food (yummy!), live performances, and of course, there was artwork everywhere. Some of the live performances that I enjoyed, as an audience member, were Waving Flag sung by 3 girls in grade 7, My Girl, performed by the new and improved temptations, and there was a frozen picture tableau interpreting the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
If I were to compare this art gala to any other 'high class' art gala event, this even blew the roof off of that place!
Congrats for the tremendous outcome!!!
~end~
Eklektika was a huge success because of the treeline committe and school council. All the art there was really great and I appreciate the fact that you let us display our artwork. I also found the art gala very enjoyable because of all the performances. I really enjoyed the art show and hope our school has another art exibition.
ReplyDeleteAnuysha,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. I was happy to see that you and your sister were able to make it out to the event. Luckily, we didn't blow the roof off the place (literally)! However, if it had become any more crowded, that might have been entirely possible.
Arshdeep,
Parent council sponsored the cost of the invitations and signage. They also helped out with serving the food at the event. I'm not sure what committee you're referring to in your post, but everyone that contributed as a sponser, patron, artist or performer helped to ensure the success of the event. The art club and other students that helped with the set-up, take-down and months of preparation before hand, played a huge part in making all of this happen. Without their help, none of this would have been possible. A huge thanks to Shanae, Bryanna, Simren, Aneeka, Tarun, Mariyya, Milan, Ashley, Cynthia, Parveen and Sadhe.
I was not able to make it to Eklektika but i KNOW it was a HUGE success. I really wish i was able to make it. From what i have heard though it rocked. it was incredible how Ms.Goyeau arranged this event so quickly. I heard the music/performances were AMAZING and the art work itself was just astonishing. It was just extraordinary and i know it was a new experience to most people who... especially the student from treeline. If there is an art gallery next year, or sooner, BELIEVE ME I WILL BE THERE, sadly i couldn't make it this time :( but i am pretty sure everyone is thanking MS.GOYEAU right now because she arranged this huge success. I hope everyone appreciates the effort Ms.Goyeau put into this (and of course everyone else to):) Have A Nice Day!

Dear Ms.Goyeau
ReplyDeleteI was suppose to come but, my mom didn't have time to drop me of.I heard the Eklektika was successful. People told me there were over 350 people there and they had a great time. I heard the spaced where this event was taking place could hold around 70 people. They also told me three bad people came inside to steal something but, Ms.goyeau scared them of. I also heard there was a lady that came with a garbage bag. The bag had a lot of garbage but, people didn't know who she was or why she was there with a garbage bag. I heard the entertainment was good. I also heard people liked the Ipod adds a lot and some took pictures of them. I hope Ms.Goyeau has another art show so, I can come and show my wonderful art pictures.
I had a very fun time at Beaux arts. I really enjoyed watching the performances and seeing the wonderful art that was on display. You did a great job putting it all together! I don’t know how you did but you worked those magic hands of yours:) Thank you for spending money out of your pockets for the students at Treeline!WE really appriciate it thnx u.
ReplyDeleteBefore I start to talk about Eklektika, I want to thank Ms. Goyeau, school council, and staff/students for all there time and effort towards Eklektika! I was not able to attend but after hearing and seeing all the feed back, pictures and video’s of Eklektika, I have to say it was obviously absolute BLAST!
ReplyDeleteOne thing that made the night a success was the artwork. There were a lot of different art work that the students made. Some of them were pinch pots, ipod adds, graffiti wall, quilt patter and much more.
The second thing that made the night awesome was the live performances. Some performances that were presented were Waving Flag sung by 3 girls in grade 7, My Girl, performed by the new temptations, and there was a frozen picture tableau interpreting the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
The third thing that made the night wonderful was the unique variety of food such as Indian, Chinese etc.
The Last but defiantly not the lest thing that made the night to remember was the number amount of people that showed up to support each students artwork. One thing that shocked me was in the beginning of the night there wasn’t hardly people but all of a sudden the place was so packed, there wasn’t even the sot able amount of space to move!
From hearing all the feed back from Ms. Goyeau and the staff/students I have to say that Eklektika was defiantly a tremendous success. I am also very happy that Ms.Goyeau tried her hardest to make this our most memorable art moment for our last year at Treeline. Once again, Thank you Miss. Goyeau for everything and for making this night a success! (:
Wow! Eklektika was a great success! From the time I walked in, I could tell that everyone was having a great time, including me. There was excellent art work by the students, delicous multi-cultural food and outstanding live performances and entertainment. I felt really excited, that our art work got to be at a real art gallery. If I ever had the chance to do this again, I would go for sure. I was really shoked and amazed that more then 350 people attended the art gallery. None of this would be possible without Miss. Goyeau. A big thanks to her for putting in so much of her time, effort, and hard work for us and the art gallery. Thursday February 11th 2010 is a night that I will never forget.
ReplyDeleteEklektica was a huge sucess!
ReplyDeleteWe had an amazing time at the Gala. We were so proud of what we made in class and are very greatful that we got to experience something like this! This is something we'll never ever forget. None of this could have happened without Ms.Goyeau! And we appreciate everything you have done for the Gala and for all the classes!
:).
wow! ! ! ! !Eklektika was an amazing success. i loved the viriaty of art that was put out. the performances where very entertianing. The amount of effort put in by miss.G and us as students was just above beyond what others and me myself expected. In my opinion the gala was the biggest event of the year so far so i would like to give a BIG thanks to Miss.G and the students that put there time and effort into this
ReplyDelete> Thankss :)<3
Even though I didn't go to the Gala, I heard it was a success. I honestly wanted to be there when it took place because after it, no one would shut up about it, so it must have been really well organized. I heard the performances were outstanding and I wish I was there to watch them. Eklektica wouldn't have been so good if it weren't for ms.Goyeau. I hope there will be one next year because I will surely be there.(POWER OF THE TRIFORCE)!!:P
ReplyDeleteSimran,
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to thank Aunt Sukhi for the delightful spring rolls. I think they (the spring rolls) were the highlight of the evening.
Harvir,
Thanks for your post, despite not being able to make it to the event. You sound like a broken record! Try starting your sentences off with something other than, "I heard, I heard. I heard".
Naveeka, Sarbjot, Sharon and Mishaal, thanks for your posts too!
Yikes, Avneet! It sounds like you're a bit miffed about not attending. It's a good thing that the students were buzzing with positivity about the event. On the other hand, it would be a bit frustrating not being a part of the systemic buzz. Hopefully, you'll have the opportunity to get involved with some of the upcoming school events.
ReplyDeleteWe have an anonymous poster with no name attached.
Only one word comes into my head when I think about this event...and that is PHENOMENAL!!! What a huge success:D We could not have pulled this off without the help of Ms. Goyeau! With her effort, the school council and the students themselves, this was something not any other school would have been able to pull off! The success of this art gala was outstanding! I really do regret about not making it that night. The next day all I heard were people saying positive thing about the gala's success! I really do hope we can pull of another gala like this somewhere at the end of the school year so that the memories of the art gala can stay fresh with us and we can take the memories to high school. This time we can make sure we rent a bigger venue so that we can all enjoy ourselves! Overall this gala was a SUCCESS :)
ReplyDeleteBig thanks goes out to Ms. Goyeau and everyone else who contributed to this gala!
:)
Eklektika was a huge success! As I entered the gala, I was very shocked and surprised to see all of the art work. The iPod ads were amazing. The vibrant colours were eye-catching and the wall overall served as a perfect background for the performances. The graffiti wall was great aswell. I really liked how it was on a brick wall and had an appearance of a street wall. The pinch pots were presented in an interesting way. The "cakes" were very beautiful. It was a mind-blowing experience to have my own art work put up in a real art gallery to be appreciated by the public.
ReplyDeleteIt was truly a memorable night that none of us would ever forget. I would like to thank the parent council, the performers, the photographers and the students for all the time and effort they put in towards the gala. Last but certainly not least, I would like to give a HUGE thank you to Ms. Goyeau. You really made this event memorable and one that we will never forget. None of this would have happened if it werent for you. We all appreciate your hard work. :)
i think that Eklektika was a use success. When i made my way to the art gala i had expected there to be only about 25 people. I was shocked to see the huge turn out. I never knew that so many people in our neighborhood liked art. Elektika was very fun to visit because of all the amazing events and art. My favorite parts of the event were seeing my art and the spectacular live performances. All the kids had screemed when the temptation had performes.
ReplyDeleteIn conclusion i think that elektica was a huge success and many people will remember it when they go to high school.
I was not able to go to the event but many people were talking about it the next day. I wish i could have gone. I heard that there were remarkable live performances and that our art was on display for the massive amount of people who came.
ReplyDeleteI thought the event was a very big success. It had live music and dance done by our own class mates. I got to see all the amazing paintings that people in our school had made. I also saw some pictures and sculptors made by experienced artists. I would like to thank all the people who had contributed to the art gala and who ever helped set it up.
ReplyDeleteI did not come to the event but everyone had told me that it was a huge success. I read over some of the comments and i found out that people loved going to the art gala. I heard that there were live performances and that our was appreciated by nearly 300 people.
ReplyDeleteI also heard many people at school talking about the temptations. I saw some pictures of the gala and it looked beautiful. I thought that the gala was a huge success.
Navjeet and Damanprit,
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate you were unable to make it to the event. I'm glad you heard good things about it. Thanks for sharing.
Ansa,
I'm surprised that you didn't comment on the fact that you were the lucky recipient of 2 tickets to see the Shanghai Circus at the Rose Theatre. It would have been nice to hear your reflections on that event. I remember seeing the Shanghai Ballet several years ago. They were absolutely phenomenonal. If the acrobats are anything like the ballet company, I'm sure it was very impressive.
Harman,
Yes, there was a lot of screaming when the Temptations performed. I think the momentum of the evening had come to a boiling point. I'm surprised that you didn't post a comment about the gallery "glowing". Thanks for your comments.
Wow, there are a lot of you posting at the wee hours of the morning. Hmmmmm....could it be that 8C has Art today?
ReplyDeleteThanks Darren and Arjun S. for your comments.
well i always leave my computer on
ReplyDeleteand i never get board on it. so i did that blog

ReplyDeleteI can't keep up with you guys! You outman me. Again, thanks for posting your thoughts and recollections of that night. Keep up the posting! In regards to those who missed the awesomeisty of that night, hopefully you won't feel too left out when I get the time, I'll post some video of that night. :) Hope you guys keep up the energy and hard work. :)

ReplyDeleteSavneen Miss G
ReplyDeleteThe art gallery was awesome, I had lot of fun. The performance was great and the food was a delight. My memorable moment was the art work by grade 7’s. I wish that we can do this next year as well.
Savneen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. It was great seeing you at the gala. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.
Dear Miss G,
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate all the hard work you put into getting our work up in an art gallery. It felt great to see the art gallery full of people with smiles on their faces. I felt proud of everyone and how we all represented Treeline Public School. The art show was clearly a great success. I will always remember that I had my work put up in an art gallery at the age of 12. I really enjoyed all the wonderful and exciting performances. Since I left a bit early I missed the Temptations. But I heard that they were AWESOME. This was a great opportunity for both grades 7 and 8. I hope next year we have another event like this. THANK YOU! <3
Thanks!!! Mrs goyeau i had a blast at the art gallery, i appreciate you spending your time organizing the place. It was the best the art work made by the other students was terrific, and having my art up on the wall was a new experience. My favourite part was seeing the amazing performances and the journey to the gallery. The food was awesome there was lots of variates of food that connected together to create a meal which tasted great. Thanks so much for a great day on Thursday well done!! Mrs goyeau for your effort in preparing the gallery for us it was a great success
ReplyDeleteI heard that the art show was awesome. I had wish that i was there too. I looked at the pictures of the art show and the art looked great.I heard that the art looked great. The performance were great specialty the tabla and the bangra boys.Thank for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mrs Goyeau and everyone else who helped bring this opprotuninty to us! I really appreciate being a part of the Art Exibit! Not only being a part, we were the artists of the Show. I have to admit that the food was awesome! i even took some home...:) I loved all of the prefromances such as the Bhangra and the Tabla but the African Dance was amazing. You guys had a lot of guts to go out in front of 350 people to preform so good!
ReplyDeleteI was happy that my group's Paper Bag Princess Plastic Bag Dress actually made it into the Exibit :D ! The Grafitti Wall look great and the Scratch art was amazing!
Mrs Goyeau, you are the most awesome teacher i know! I have never seen a teacher spend nearly $5 000-or was it $4000?- for his/her students have an opportuninty such as being artists at a real art gala/exibit! Thank you so much of your months worth of hard work!
My favourite part was the whole thing! Though the presentations were really entertaining, the food was delicious and the art was amazing! Just being at the Gala was awesome even if the area was croded with 350 people and you could hardly move! I really enjoyed the event and i will remember it for a lifetime because its not every day where you will have a Art Exibit displayind your artwork!
This Art Exibit was a success and that would not be possible without you, Mrs Goyeau! I would like to thank all of the supporters for your hard work and support :)!
it was awesome and i had a great time!
ReplyDeletethanx mrs gouyeau and all suporters!!!
Jaspreet,
ReplyDeleteWonderful, insightful blog. Thanks for sharing your reflections. It was my pleasure to provide you with this opportunity. It was a lot of hard work, but it was well worth it. I would do it again in a heart beat. I'm sure you would too!
In addition to our regular art budget, we were able to get additional financial support through parent council, Mrs. Pratt and Councilor Sprovieri. Yes, we are fortunate at Treeline to have such strong support for the arts.

ReplyDeleteShazad,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post. I was pleased to see you and your family at the art exhibit. That's great that you were able to preview some of the artist's work upstairs. It is a neat experience being featured along side other artists. I hope it's a memory you'll keep with you for years to come.
kochak... :)
ReplyDeletedear miss Goyeau
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for creating eklektika. I know you really put a lot of time and effort in creating this for treeline.i love that u organized all the performance and i had a great that evening. My family and I enjoyed all the art galley. i am looking forward to seeing another art galley in the future. thank you for organizing this for us
From Andrew Persaud
Hi Andrew,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post. We'll be exhibiting our artwork for South Asian Heritage Month in May. There's going to be a big kick-off event at the school the week after the fun fair. I was thinking of trying to incorporate animation and performance art into it. Stay tuned.
Dear Miss Goyeau,
ReplyDeleteI really sorry that I didn't get to go the art gallery but everyone has said that Ekleltika was a huge succes, and that even though it was really crowed everyone still had an awsome time! You were right, when you showed us the pictures the place looked crowed and packed really tightly, but when I went on Saturday it looks so empty and nice because it was not crowed. I had dance on Thursday night and I've been pretty busy that week so I couldn't make it because the time that I had dance wouldn't really work for me. But if it did I so would come to the exhibit and see all the art work and the preformances, and of course I would try the food! I know this giant event took a long time to plan and to call all the media and the the gallery and that takes a bit of time and waiting, and also other things also. So I just want to say great job for putting this amazing evnt together, and thank you sooooo much Miss Goyeau!!!!!
From: Kadin Vanden Heuvel 7A
Wow!! This event was turned out to be better than I had imagined! Having my art put in an art gallery at the age of 12, having my art admired by guests visiting the art gallery, was a moment in my life that I will never forget. It reminds me that nothing in life is impossible. All the little things that happened while coming to the art gallery, (finding the way here, getting lost and having to ask someone for directions, not being able to find parking space, singing in the car with my cousin and Latika while Rohat sat at the back just listening) made this night spectacular. Seeing all the different types of art that we had been working on at Treeline Public School (from grades 7 and 8) was something I was looking forward to the most. Mmmm, the food tasted amazing! The bhangra just made my day. All the photos that I took with my friends, not having anything to worry about, watching everybody have a good time, it's an everlasting memory. Thank-you Miss.Goyeau for making this day come true, something that wouldn't have happened if you weren't our art teacher. Thinking about everything you had to do to make this day finally come, to make us have the feeling of being real artists, is quite amazing. But most of all, this day wouldn't have been such a success without everybody that showed up. Without the parents, without the performers, and especially without us. I was screaming so much, I had the feeling I was going to loose my voice before the day was even over. Thank-you once again, Miss.Goyeau for making this day a very special day, something we could talk about for the rest of our life, come true.
ReplyDeleteThis event turned out to be better than i thought it would be! Taking my first step into the gallery, i knew i was going to have an amazing night. I saw Sukhi, Alisha, Dalvir, Harman, Arsh; i knew right then i was never going to forget this night. All the little adventures that i had while getting to the art gallery, (getting lost, not able to find parking, didn't know were the gallery was) to cheering on the 'My Girl' dancers, i had an amazing time. I was getting a feeling that I was going to loose my voice before the night even ended! The food was amazing. The bhangra made my day. Looking around and showing my mom all the art pieces that Treeine Public School did (grade 7 and 8) was something I was looking forward to the most. Thank you Miss Goyeau for making us believe that nothing is impossible, having our art placed in the art gallery at the age of 12. This day is a day I will never forget. All the pictures we took, it's a symbol of when our art got recognized in the world. It's the day we got to be artists. This night would'd have been a success without everybody who showed up .. the teachers, the parents, and last but not least, us. I had to do this blog once again, I dont think the other one showed up on the page. But once again, I want to thank Miss Goyeau for making this day a success. Thinking about everything that you did to make this day what it was, for us to enjoy, for us to have the chance to show what we did, to show our skills, it was mind blowing.
ReplyDeleteKadin,
ReplyDeleteEven though you weren't able to make it to the gala reception, I was delighted that you were able to make it in on the Saturday. The quietness of the gallery made it an ideal time to really appreciate the art work. Thanks for sharing.
Kajal,
ReplyDeleteWow! Great blog post. Thanks for sharing all of the intimate details that made this night so memorable for you. It's incredible to think about everything that went into making it such a spectacular night. I really appreciate the holistic approach and various perspectives you integrated into your reflection. Well done.

Judging by the slideshows I've seen lots of cool artwork & performances. I can infer that the gala was awesome & crowded judging by other peoples' blogs. Also I've heard that the food was good, man i wish i could had tried the food people say i's awesome! I hope that ther will be another art exibit.
ReplyDeleteAs Kelly said: Eklektika? I likey!
From rafay
Rafay, thanks for your blog. It's unfortunate that you couldn't make it. There will be opportunities to have your artwork on display during Open House at the school on April 22nd and during a South Asian Heritage Month event at the school on May 19th.
ReplyDeleteChadwick,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your blog post. Yes, it was having having you guys perform. I also had fun playing the tablas during rehearsals. I find it very soothing. Perhaps you can bring your tablas into the art room for display/use during south asian month preparations. I'm sure there will also be opportunities for you to perform at the school event on May 19th. There's also yet another opportunity for you to perform at a festival in Mississauga on June 19th, it's called Ecofest.
